CELBRATING THE SEASONS OF URANUS, THE SEASONS OF OUR LIVES.

Around our house, birthdays are celebrated not only according to the Solar Gregorian calendar all of us are familiar with, but also in reference to a much more personal, Soli-Lunar calendar. With such a calendar orientation, we count the exact phase of the Moon at our birth as important. In fact, the phase of the Moon at our birth is considered of utmost significance as a symbol of the balanced unification of both our masculine (Solar) and our feminine (Lunar) natures.

The phase of the Moon at which one is born occurs within the first Moon cycle of one's life and is called one's lunation birthday. Tracking this birthday is relatively easy as it recurs every 29.5 days.

Also easy to track are the consecutive Moons of our life beginning with the Moon cycle of our birth as number one. And if we count each and every Moon cycle thereafter, in groups of 260, we open the door to a whole new dimension of calendar engagement.

Why 260 you ask?

The number 260 (13x20) places our Moon count in resonance with the Mayan Sacred Calendar (Tzolkin) such that each and every Moon cycle in our lives has a Tzolkin reference. This kind of counting opens us up progressively to a latent spiritual heritage communicated to us via the Tzolkin's 13 sacred numbers and 20 sacred hieroglyphs.

Each combination of Tzolkin number and glyph has a mythological message and it is our experience and understanding that these messages are geared to helping us to expand our capacity to love unconditionally.

According to this integrative, astro-mythological view of the world, each 260 Moon (21 year) span corresponds to one of four seasons of life: spring, summer, fall and winter. Coincidently, these seasons correspond mysteriously (and exactly) to the four seasons of planet Uranus as it revolves around the Sun.

Since astrological Uranus has always referred to transformation and awakening, we have found it appropriate to refer to the whole process of Moon cycle/Tzolkin/ Uranus attunement as the Seasons of Uranus.

The kind of progressive, astro-mythological attunement available to us via the Seasons of Uranus is there for us over the full duration of our lives, regardless of whether we take advantage of it or not. If we do engage with the Tzolkin in this way, however, we may wish to go even deeper into the attunement. One way to do so is to honour the four major turning points that naturally occur every 260 Moons (21 years). These can be experienced as important rites of passage, significant turning-points in our lives worthy of special acknowledgement and ceremony.

So, it is with this notion of acknowledging these seasonal turning points that I wish to invite you to join with me, in happily acknowledging my life-partner Teresa Wild as she turns 63 years young on December 5, 2014 and consciously enters the Winter season of her life. Ho!
